meta44 is a carefully curated store that sells furniture, objects, and art in Millerton, New York. After working on a design project together, co-founders John Allee and Charlotte Tracy discovered that although his style is modern and hers is more organic, the two went well together and dreamed up meta44. John Allee designs and fabricates all of meta44’s furniture locally, and objects are sourced from both the East and West Coasts which gives meta44 its unique California feel.
meta44 seeks brands that reflect our aesthetic values; well-designed and beautifully crafted objects that are modern, natural and fun. We believe in supporting the artists and makers whom we represent and sharing their stories because we love how design has the ability to make us all feel connected. meta44 is a play on words (a metaphor for…) but also a reference to our intention to deepen awareness of the many degrees of modern and unearth the stories reflected in good design.
meta44 shares its space with Allee’s architecture firm AA+D, creating a unique and exciting intersection between architecture and design. We love Millerton and the neighboring areas of both the Hudson Valley and Litchfield County and believe deeply in the ideals and integrity of a local economy and a small town community.
meta44 is located at the intersection of Routes 44 and 22 at the end of Main Street. Come visit us soon.
